SUCCESSES RECORDED DURING 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR

G.S Kenkah Fonkem and G.S Abasap became functional bringing up the number of functional schools from 26 to 28. I congratulate the Fon of Folepi, the president of Folepi Development and Cultural Association. The president of Besali Development and Cultural Association and their collaborators for taking the giant step to join the moving train.
In like manners, G.N.S Banteng also became functional taking up the number of functional Nursery Schools from 7 to 8. Here the efforts of HRH the chief of Banteng, Mr. Menkenndah Johnas, Mr.Ebonta Benard, Dr. Allan Afuah, Mr. Liagem James, Mrs.Boh Viola Akweack just to name a few are very visible. This increase in the number of functional schools was justified with a corresponding increase in the school enrolment from 3,476 to 4,060 and for Examination candidates from 399 to 542. Examination Centres also increased from 4 to 5.
Within the year we also noticed a more secured learning environment justified with the following facts.
- The Sub Divisional syllabus coverage rate increased from 75.01% to 79.26%
- The number of state teachers in the field increased from 47 to 93.
- The inspector was able to visit functional schools in the lower zone for the first time since 2016 for pedagogic supervision and pedagogic inspection.

It should be noted here that the number of candidates who passed the FSLC Examination are usually more than those who passed the G.C.E Examination because of these two main reasons:

  1. At registration, more children register for FSLC than G.C.E because most parents do not yet know the value of G.C.E Examination which is used to ease admission of children into good schools and is also used to prepare the children for other examinations.
  2. During the G.C.E Examination only the mental and intellectual abilities are measured on like the FSLC Examination where other abilities are measured like Art and Craft, Agriculture, physical Education and Sport, Orals etc.

The Folepi Development Association president, their Fons and Elites are working hard holding meetings to ensure school resumption in G.S Folepi, G.N.S Kenkah and proper functioning of G.S Kenkah FonKem.

G.S Fonenge reopened their doors late last year. I have spoken with chief Fonenge and head teacher of G.S Fonenge to correct the errors of last year.

The administration thanks to the recommendations of Bright Vision Community Initiative for Sustainable Development (BRIVCOISUD has sanctioned teachers of functional schools who have never seen the four wall of a classroom in their respective schools for the past 3 academic years. With this move we sure they and others will sit up.

Bright Vision Community Initiative for Sustainable Development (BRIVCOISUD was appreciated for the wonderful initiatives in creating and sustaining this forum to promote education in Wabane.

We acknowledge all efforts and useful contributions and efforts not mentioned.

We pray that God the Almighty will replenish all our resources and continue to give us the energy to contribute to the development of our area in our own little ways.
